My Darkest Days and their loyal fans have had some stiff competition in the Cage Match, but with the help of overwhelming fan support the band won five straight matchups with their single ‘Casual Sex.’ With their fifth and final victory over funk-rock masters Red Hot Chili Peppers yesterday, My Darkest Days become the latest act to enter the Loudwire Cage Match Hall of Fame.
The new Hall of Famers started their journey by beating down Michigan based rock band Pop Evil, then went on to knock out Black Stone Cherry. My Darkest Days also took down massive bands such asSeether and Shinedown. In their fifth and final matchup, they went head to head with Red Hot Chili Peppers only to come out on top.
Congrats to My Darkest Days, as they are in good company with fellow Cage Match Hall of Famers Anthrax, X Japan, Falling in Reverse and RED. Catch MDD on the road when they open up for Nickelback, Seether and Bush on an upcoming North American tour.

KEYS OF THE WEEK INTERVIEW: REID HENRY/MY DARKEST DAYS
REID HENRY puts his pants on just like the rest of us, one leg at a time. Except, once Reid’s pants are on, he makes Gold records.
The fiery heart of a poet whether behind a piano, microphone, or guitar, REID HENRY is blazing the path for a new generation of keyboarders, who are taking center stage and throwing their own jet fuel on the hellfire that is Rock’ N’ Roll.
Vancouver’s Hottest Music recently caught up with REID HENRY and posed him these 4 questions:
VHM: Your favorite keys/piano player(s)? Why?
REID HENRY: “Trent Reznor… He’s obviously more prolific than just a Keyboardist, but I think in terms of personal influence NIN had a big impact on me. Other dudes I had listened to a lot were Ray Manzarek of the Doors, and lots of Romantic Era music like Tchaikovsky.”
VHM: What’s the most played song on your MP3 player?
REID HENRY: “My MP3 players were repeatedly destroyed on tour so the one I have now is kind of new… right now the top 3 are, Nickelback Bottoms Up, Deftones Digital Bath, & NIN Closer.”
VHM: If you could be re-incarnated as any musician alive or dead, who would it be?
REID HENRY: “I can’t imagine being anyone else.”
VHM: Words of advice for any upcoming piano players out there?
REID HENRY: “Practice constantly to a click track. Learn your scales and theory but once you’ve become comfortable on your instrument jam on it! Make stuff up! Be creative! You could have all the proper technique and theoretical knowledge in the world and if you can’t hang… you can’t hang. Chops are earned not learned.”
THANKS REID HENRY!

Drummer of the Week Interview: DOUG OLIVER/MY DARKEST DAYS
The harder he bangs, the louder they scream. The fuel behind the fire of My Darkest Days, DOUG OLIVER is so red-hot right now, that when he goes for a swim he doesn’t get wet, the water gets him.
VANCOUVER’S HOTTEST MUSIC caught up with DOUG OLIVER and posed him our 4 infamous questions:
VHM: Your favorite drummer(s)? Why?
DOUG OLIVER: It would have to be Daniel Adair (Nickelback/3 Doors Down) and Mike Johnston (Drum Teacher of the Gods, Youtube that maniac). I like the groove that these guys bring to the table. It’s a mix of old school technique with a modern feel. I also like Neil Sanderson (Three Days Grace), as he brings the same qualities with his own twist on it!
VHM: What’s the most played song on your MP3 player?
DOUG OLIVER: The most played song would have to be “Pins and Needles” by CITIZEN HOLLOW, as I am co-producing their EP, and it’s the one we are currently working on in the studio.
VHM: If you could be re-incarnated as any musician alive or dead, who would it be?
DOUG OLIVER: If I was re-incarnated as any musician dead or alive, I would have to say a combination of Fergie and Jesus.
VHM: Words of advice for any upcoming drummers out there?
DOUG OLIVER: I would have to say practice at least 4 hours a day (on ur own) and always use a metronome!!! Play to all kinds of different musical genres, as it will expand ur thought process when introduced to new feels and grooves!
THANKS DOUG!
